Harry Potter Ultimate Book Tag

Helloooooo, everyone!

I haven’t done a tag in a little while, but when I saw this posted by Rebecca over at Peace Love and Veggies, I couldn’t resist doing it myself. Rebecca originally saw this when Maureen Keavy posted it on BookTube, here. I absolutely adore Harry Potter. I’ve been to both Wizarding Worlds in the US, the WB Studio Tour in London (multiple times), the travelling exhibit that came to Seattle, and the Glenfinnan Viaduct in Scotland and the island housing Dumbledore’s tomb on Loch Shiel in Scotland. I also have a Harry Potter tattoo above the crook of my elbow (see below) and am planning more.

So when I saw this tag, I absolutely couldn’t pass it up.

1.) Which Harry Potter book is your favourite?

Goblet of Fire. This book is so good and I always forget that because the movie was such a disappointment.

2.) Which Harry Potter book is your least favourite?

I mean, if I have to choose, probably Half-Blood Prince, although it DOES have that Roonil Wazlib scene, and that gives me life.

3.) Which Harry Potter film is your favourite?

The Order of the Phoenix. God, that film is pretty. I liked it’s faithfulness to the book, and the scene where everything collapses in the Hall of Prophecies is one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen.

4.) Which Harry Potter film is your least favourite?

The Goblet of Fire. The whole thing fell flat and I was seriously disappointed.

5.) Which Harry Potter quote is your favourite?

“‘Did you put your name in the Goblet of Fire, Harry?’ he asked, calmly.”

6.) Which Weasley is your favourite?

Arthur. I love his fascination with little things. His continued curiosity about the world, even when his world gets very dark, is inspiring.

7.) Which female character is your favourite?

I’ve gone through a very long mental list, and it’s gotta be Hermione. Not because she’s brilliant or strong or funny, but because she’s fucking ruthless. She erases herself from her parents’ memories without a second thought. She slaps Malfoy in the face in front of his friends. She captures a woman who’s turned herself into a beetle and KEEPS HER IN A JARWe should all be afraid of book!Hermione.

8.) Which villain is your favourite?

Umbridge is such a good villain. She’s so much fun to hate, but so multidimensional, and I think that makes her a really intriguing character to read.

9.) Which male character is your favourite?

Draco Malfoy. He has such a complete story arc and grows and changes more than any other character. He’s fun to hate for a while and then you really start to feel for him. A+ storytelling there.

10.) Favourite Hogwarts Professor?

Minerva McGonagall. She’s the ultimate “tough but fair” professor, and the constant shade she throws at Umbridge is legendary.

11.) Wash Snape’s hair or spend a day listening to Lockhart rant about himself?

Spend a day listening to Lockhart. He’s bananas, and it would make for a great story.

12.) Duel against an elated Bellatrix or an angry Molly?

I would never go up against Molly – she’s fiercely protective and would murder me without question. I’d at least stand a chance at Bellatrix getting distracted and letting her guard down.

13.) Travel to Hogwarts via Hogwarts Express or Flying Car?

Hogwarts Express.

14.) Kiss Voldemort or give Umbridge a Bubble Bath?

I’d totally kiss Voldy. It lasts like half a second and I feel like Umbridge stays in the bath until she’s all pruny.

15.) Ride a Hippogriff or ride a Firebolt?

Hippogriff! Any old person can ride a broom. You gotta earn it to ride a Hippogriff though.

16.) Is there a character which you felt differently about in the movies vs. the books?

Ginny. Man, did she get fucked by the films. Book!Ginny is so smart and brave and fierce and funny and movie!Ginny is literally none of these things and has the personality of plain oatmeal.

17.) Is there a movie you preferred instead of the book?

No. None of the movies outdid their books.

18.) Richard Harris or Michael Gambon as Dumbledore?

Richard Harris. I liked Michael Gambon (minus the calmly incident), but Harris was much more the Dumbledore I had in my head.

19.) Your top thing (person or event) which was not included in the movies that annoyed you the most.

There are lots of things I wish had been in the films, but the thing I think needed to be there was when Harry, Ron, and Hermione visit Arthur in St. Mungo’s hospital and see Neville’s parents. This is such an important moment for Neville, I was sad it was reduced to a 90 second conversation.

20.) If you could remake any of the Harry Potter films, which would it be?

The Goblet of Fire. It needs so much help.

21.) Which Hogwarts House was your first gut feeling you’d be a part of?

I thought I’d be in Gryffindor.

22.) Which Hogwarts House were you actually sorted into on Pottermore (or any other online-sorting quiz)?

Hufflepuff! Badgers for life.

23.) Which class would be your favourite?

Care of Magical Creatures or History of Magic.

24.) Which spell do you think would be most useful to learn?

Whatever that spell is that Dumbledore uses to restore order to the room that Horace Slughorn destroyed. I could finally clean my house in seconds.

25.) Which character at Hogwarts would you instantly become best friends with?

Luna, probably. We’re a lot alike.

26.) If you could own one of the three Hallows, which one would it be?

Invisibility cloak. I don’t really have need for a crazy wand or resurrection stone, but that cloak would make eavesdropping so easyyyyy.

27.) Is there any aspect of the books you’d want to change?

I would delete the epilogue from existence.

28.) Favourite Marauder?

Mooney. I love Lupin a lot.

29.) If you could bring one character back to life, which would it be?

Just one? I think… Dobby. His death really ruined me.

30.) Hallows or Horcruxes?

I really dig the darkness of Horcruxes.

31.) Which parts of the books/films made you cry?

Cedric’s death (the actor who plays his father is absolutely heartbreaking), Dobby’s death, and Fred’s death.

32.) What would your Patronus be?

Pottermore says it’s a West Highland Terrier.

33.) If you could meet any member of the cast who would it be?

James and Oliver Phelps. They seem like seriously good fun.

34.) Have you played any of the video games?

Yeah. I used to have the first game for my computer, but I never kept up with it. I want them for PS3.

35.) If you were on the Quidditch Team, which position would you play?

36.) Were you happy with the ending?

Fuck the epilogue.

37.) How much does Harry Potter mean to you?

Harry Potter gives me life. End of story.

38.) Do you think you could ride on a broom?

Probably not. I have terrible balance.

39.) What would you do if you had the Marauder’s Map?

I would spy on everyone. I’m so nosy.

40.) What spell would you make up and what would it do?

I actually agree with Rebecca – Beautify, to do my hair and makeup. It would also get rid of blemishes and bloating. This would save me an insane amount of time.

And that’s it! I hope you enjoyed this, and if you did, consider yourself tagged!
